Music on the Propeller Chip

Here are some links to the Parallax forums about some of the different chiptune emulators that can run on the propeller : http://www.delicious.com/tkarches/propeller+chiptune

I was running the chiptune player today....the SIDplayer requires a VGA screen, and my table was pretty full. If you want to try any of these out, I used :

I purchased both of these modules from Gadget Gangster. Other vendors sell the QuickStart, but with GG, the Quick Proto is included. Be aware that the chiptune and sidplayer require the song files to be stored on a SD card. There is a location on the Quick VGA + module to mount a micro SD card, but the card slot is not included. It can be purchased from Mouser Electronics : Memory Card Connector

Instead, I purchased one of these Micro SD card adapter - $9.99 from Gadget Gangster, but they don't have it on their web site. There is a header on the Quick VGA + to attach this adapter. If you solder header sockets to the Quick VGA + and put headers on the micro SD adapter, then the card adapter can be unplugged.

Maker Faire NC 2012 is over

Thanks to those that visited our booth at Maker Faire NC this year. I'll be adding more resource into shortly about the projects that were on display. I think everything went well, though the space was pretty noisy..it was often difficult to hear the sounds over the ambient noise. I think I was also getting some interference from the high voltage booth next to ours. It seemed like whenever the high voltage rig turned on, my Midibox SID locked up. Guess that's why you have shielding.

Maker Faire 2012 : Propeller Music

At Maker Faire NC tomorrow we will have a demo of Commodore 64 and Atari sound chip emulation on the Parallax Propeller Chip. The Propeller is an 8 core processor that costs about $7 and can do some amazing stuff.
